The Fly Norfolk Certified Drone Pilot Program is a FREE 5-day course (Mon.- Fri.) designed for high school students age 16 and up who wish to earn a Federal Aviation Administration certification in professional Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) operation. At the end of the course, students will sit for their FAA certifications as commercial UAS operators, and parents and family members will be welcomed to attend Fly Day, where students exhibit their flight skills.
Applicants must be 16 years of age and up at time of the course.
To be considered for the free program, students must submit a brief statement describing how this course aligns with their professional and academic plans, and how this certification course can help them reach their professional goals.
15 students will be selected for the course and must be submitted no later than July 22, 2019.
Aviation Institute of Maintenance will pay for the FAA certification exam for those students who pass the practice tests with an 80% or higher.
