As the third busiest airport in Virginia, it is home to several hundred private airplanes and jets, a regional airline, a specialized aircraft manufacturer, several flight schools and government flight operations.

The nation's capital is just a short Metro ride away, In fact, this convenient mass transit system lets you visit Chinatown for authentic Asian cuisine by day and Georgetown's array of taverns by night. The National Mall is also a stop on the Metro. You can visit The Smithsonian Institution, The White House, National Archives and Washington Monument all in one stop! Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)

The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to excel as an aircraft mechanic. This training prepares you to pass the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) test to become a certified Airframe and Powerplant Technician for employment in aviation maintenance.

Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician program draws from AIM’s core coursework in professional maintenance fields, introducing the student to electricity, surfaces and controls, transportation structures, power systems, hydraulics, and electrical control systems. The student is also guided in following process procedures, adequately documenting maintenance procedures within forms and records, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment, and developing as a maintenance professional.

Courses Available:

Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The UAS Operator and Flight Training course will teach students basic and advanced airmanship skills with a focus on aerial photography with mission planning and execution that can be applied to agriculture, real estate, and infrastructure inspection jobs. Over two days, students will learn the basics of flight, preflight, mission planning techniques and progress to advanced/skilled maneuvers.

This course is avocational in nature and is not included in ACCSC’s scope of accreditation – not Title IV eligible.
