Las Vegas is known world-wide as a hot tourist destination, but it’s also fantastic place to call home. World-class restaurants and shopping, live music, festivals, sports and community events all make this a happening place to live and work.
The greater Las Vegas area includes the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Clark County. Altogether, nearly 2 million people call the area home. The area enjoys a rich multicultural heritage that developed over hundreds of years beginning with the Native American who first settled the area to the first Spanish explorers in the 1700s to the railroad workers and gold miners of all nationalities that helped the city grow up from the desert.
Don’t let the desert heat fool you – the Las Vegas area is ideal for outdoor sports. While summer temperatures can climb during the day, very little humidity and frequent desert winds make activities like golf, tennis, biking, swimming, hiking and boating a pleasure. Dozens of parks dot the landscape with skate parks, water parks, and other great outdoor activities.
And if you love sports, you don’t have to look hard to find something going on in the area’s five stadiums. The Orleans Arena is home to the Las Vegas Wrangler hockey team, and something is always happening at Sam Boyd Stadium, home of UNLV football and the Las Vegas Bowl. Or if you’re looking for a way to get your engine revved up, visit the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the area’s home for NASCAR. The Speedway is a complete motorsports complex with road courses, an oval track, a dirt track and drag racing facility.
If indoor pursuits are more in line with your tastes, the Las Vegas area will not disappoint you. There are 29 performing arts venues and ranging from large performance halls to small community theaters.
