Aviation Maintenance Training School Moves to New California Location

Posted by on Aug 1, 2018

Aviation Institute of Maintenance, formerly operating out of Oakland, has relocated to a new facility based in Fremont, CA. Move provides opportunity to grow student population and offers improved training amenities.

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) has relocated from its original campus in Oakland, CA to a new facility in Fremont, CA.

Opened in 2010, AIM’s Oakland campus was located at the Metropolitan Oakland International Airport, and consisted of three buildings, totaling 31,200 square feet, with an additional 8,800 square feet of aircraft ramp space. With the increase of its student body, the campus’s facilities were at a capacity and a move was necessary in order to grow the school further.

“While being at capacity is a good problem to have, we are extremely excited to move to our new location,” says Josh Smith, Campus Executive Director of AIM Fremont. “The relocation from Oakland to Fremont is an opportunity for us to expand, with a larger and more modern facility,”

The new Fremont campus is housed in a facility of approximately 65,000 square feet. The school boasts 48,000 square feet of hangar space, with an additional 17,000 square footage of office and classroom space. The school’s equipment includes multi-engine and single-engine aircraft, airframes, turbine and piston engines and specially designed training aides. There are 21 classrooms, multiple indoor and outdoor student break areas, including private study rooms.

AIM’s new facility includes a PSI FAA testing center, a Learning Resource System, and 3 computer labs.

The campus will be holding an official ribbon cutting ceremony on September 19, 2018. More details on that event will be released at a later date.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s Fremont campus is located at 420 Whitney Place, Fremont CA 94539.  For more information call the campus at (510) 553-9600.
